Diamond is the most famous and prized Gemstone, formed deep (150 km and more) in the Earth's Crust at high temperature and pressure. It is composed only of Carbon Atoms linked by covalent Bonds to a solid atomic Network. It is the hardest (58 x hardest) material on Earth. Most Diamonds came to the surface with volcanic eruptions.
